CLIMATE CHANGE CONVERSATIONS HOLDING OUR FEET TO THE FIRE, THE ICE, THE WATER & THE WEATHER A City of Langley Production
Greta Thunberg, the young Swedish school girl who sparked a global movement, challenges adults, “Our house is on fire. You are stealing our future. And you do nothing!” Our own Whidbey Island students demonstrated about climate change on Friday September 20, 2019. We’ve structured an event to respond to that challenge. We bring leaders, generations, and options together to focus on Whidbey Island’s climate footprint and where the leverage is.
• Listen to Maggie Nattress & Annie Phips, Whidbey Island next generation climate leaders. • Dr. Richard Gammon, climate scientist: how will climate change impact us here? • View a “Poster Festival” of Whidbey Island environmental groups and opportunities. • Hear from and discuss with local government leaders and public service providers about their specific climate change mitigation aspirations and goals. o Do they know their carbon footprints? o What are their plans? o How will they get there? o How will they measure progress?
